This series, which has been running since 2014, has featured Italian and international artists.
These events are organised to coincide with the studio’s production activities, during which specific research and in-depth projects may emerge, thanks to collaboration with the artists. The initiative was launched with the aim of sharing the processes of conception, design, artistic vision and specific techniques or themes proposed by the artists.
BLANCO
It is an initiative that designs and organises artistic projects based in Japan, Italy and Germany. BLANCO organises art workshops and research activities with the aim of creating opportunities for exchange and interaction that transcend all barriers, such as disability, nationality, social background and age.
A special note: Local Aperitivo Project
Kaori Miyayama and Cristian Boffelli’s proposal kicked off with an original and engaging launch event.
The Local Aperitivo Project is a nomadic and informal initiative which, in recent years, the two artists have taken to various social venues and cultural spaces, such as in Chiba and Tokyo, often in conjunction with exhibitions or artist residencies. The main aim is to create chance encounters between different people and things: “During exhibitions and workshops, we bring together different people and cultures to create spaces for food and dialogue in which to celebrate diversity.”
The project introduces the Italian concept of the aperitif to Japan, creating spaces for sharing, spontaneous dialogue and artistic reflection, without rigid rules or formalities.
Even in the studio, to introduce the two different cultures and their distinct approaches, the artists prepared a presentation and a screening of their artistic research, accompanied by a selection of canapés offered to guests, thereby fostering a moment of genuine exchange and connection.

‘Our approach is based on the realisation that printing is not merely the transfer of an image, but a process of transformation in which the plate, paper, pressure and ink come together and influence one another. The choice of tools, such as the intaglio press or the traditional Japanese baren, becomes a poetic act that shapes the energy of the image and its many facets.’
A day of workshops
The workshop day dedicated to the creation and printing of plates offered a journey through techniques, aesthetics and visual relationships. Through a shared experience, we explored the role of the plate as a dynamic source, the transformation of the image through printing processes, and the dialogue between different traditions. During this intensive day, we experimented with woodcut and collograph techniques, using tools such as the baren and the star-shaped intaglio press, whilst integrating elements from both Western and Eastern traditions. The aim was to understand how the printing plate serves as a starting point, how the image is in a state of transition, and how these relationships constitute its vital space.
