A minha amata-mata, 2017

Daniela Lorenzi
Large scale. Interior design project by Giuseppe Tortato Architects. Cenerè, Milan, Italy.
Experimentation. Gumprint and large formats
A minha amata-mata is a series of large-format prints with Gumprint technique.
These are photographic memories, visual traces, what remains of a number of excursions into the Mata Atlântica undertaken between 2004 and 2009, during my time in Brazil.
The paper substrate, chosen as the matrix, is certainly a more ephemeral material than stone, but this is intentional.
Using the same flat-surface printing process as in stone lithography, each print is produced on a etching press. The loss of detail and sharpness, which occurs naturally, is inherent to the process of transforming the image;
such as the additional application of glazes using natural pigments, mixed with a specific type of waxing method already used in previous works, to conceal or reveal parts of the composition.
A selection from A minha amata-mata has been chosen for the interior design project for the Cenerè spaces in Milan.
Interior design and gourmet cuisine
Cenerè is a venue dedicated to signature gourmet cuisine, born from the collaboration between Carlo Napoli, architect Giuseppe Tortato and Mabho – interiors & project development.
A holistic approach characterizes the entire project: the sensory experience is enhanced by the use of natural materials and elements throughout the spacious restaurant.
Nothing is left to chance. The raw oak of the parquet flooring, the wall plaster made from a mixture of sand, ash and silica, the dark brown natural leather of the sofas, the toasted cork on the walls, the liquid metals that cover parts of the furnishings, the iron and stone of the tables, the leather of the accessories: the materials chosen have been used and, in part, transformed into high-quality finished products. The furnishings chosen are elegant, yet informal. The project features some of the iconic chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son, such as the CH24 / Wishbone Chair, the CH33P, the CH88P and the CH58 bar stool. The striking gold-leaf lighting installations, conceived by architect Tortato and created by Catellani & Smith, also contribute to the enhancement of the spaces.
