The installation

Laura vinci designed for the Galeria Nara Roesler an installation in which apples and small marble elements were placed, during the exhibition period, on and under the large marble table. The scent of the apples could be smelled from the street even before entering the gallery. Over time the apples rotted, intensifying the scent in the room and further highlighting the contrast between them and the marble. In the centre, the glass structure, a composition with a vertical arrangement, and on the back wall some bullet holes.

The incised mark as a trace of thought

It introduces the installation, the series of large sheets printed on the press from plates incised in etching. A production process deliberately chosen by the artist and carried out in his studio, with the support of Daniela Lorenzi and Kaloan Meenochite.

The inked grooves, deeply incised, amplify the three-dimensional quality of the mark, rendering the handwriting of the design phase.

Edition: ten copies numbered 1 to 10 in Arabic numerals

Special features: the artist's preparatory sketches for the installation, transferred by screen printing (100×140 cm screen), with electrical circuit resists, onto brass plates. The plates thus prepared were etched and worked with further aquatint stages to obtain deep, strongly incised black marks.

It was shown again in 2009 during the two-person exhibition of Laura Vinci and Richard Serra at the Galleria Marcello Guarnieri, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil.
