Valeria Canavesi Sono solo parole
2026
Consultancy and production of limited editions. Solo exhibition, Archivio Rachele Bianchi, Milan. Italy
Words have a body
A research path, that of Valeria Canavesi, developed over two years through almost weekly meetings in the atelier, a continuous work of discussion, experimentation and in-depth study that led to the birth of:Sono solo parole is a deep reflection on the meaning and use of language in contemporary society.
In Valeria's artistic enquiry the word returns to the centre, first of writing and then of printing.
Thank you, Pain, Love, War, Lie and 14 other words are each the subject of a poetic interpretation, semantically transposed into the choice of colours, papers and different printing techniques. Each has become a word-manifesto, in a 50x70 cm format, in an edition of 11 original copies. Each word is exploded in its power and its beauty; the concept turns into reality; an idea becomes a world to be read and touched, admired, smelled.

A semantic interpretation through supports and printing processes.
The word that burns the brain is itself burnt; the word out of control shows random stains and folds; the word that heals sprouts on plantable paper; the holiest word of all is in gold leaf on precious handmade paper…
Gumprint, screen printing, letterpress, intaglio printing, laser cutting and other kinds of printing have enhanced Valeria's texts, making them alive and tangible, together with paper supports chosen to match each meaning.
Fine handmade papers sit alongside delicatessen tissue paper, plantable papers and packaging board, in an exploration that moves from theory to practice: this is the role of words, with which we build thoughts that then become actions.

To quote Valeria once more: Children and wars are also born of words.
