For some years now our Atelier has had the privilege of working with Brazilian artists, thereby helping to strengthen a bridge of cultural exchange between Italy and Brazil. We have managed to consolidate a network of relationships that foster mutual understanding and artistic enrichment.
The main aim of all the projects carried out so far has been to offer participants the opportunity to work in our spaces through experimentation and research, while also enabling them to present their works to a wider and more diverse public. This exchange has also allowed Italian artists to engage with a different reality and cultural experience overseas, thus contributing to mutual enrichment.
In recent decades, the freedom and experimental approach adopted by Brazilian artists have helped to rediscover a contemporary meaning even in ancient techniques such as intaglio printing. This approach has given rise to mixed processes serving the image, often unknown in our context, which tends to preserve a traditional historical memory. Unfortunately, this has often created a closed art market running parallel to current developments, especially technological ones.
There is no doubt that collaboration with Brazilian artists is extremely beneficial, as they bring significant experience, both technical and historical, which is essential for enriching and deepening artistic research.
For a month, the Municipality of Fara Gera D’Adda hosted the artists, taking the opportunity to present them alongside two workshops that they will lead, as university lecturers, at the Ellepikappa Cooperative in Pontirolo Nuovo. After all, many projects arise from a simple desire to make things known and to share them.
What better occasion, then, to promote cultural and artistic exchange?
