Printmaking enters space

These are site-specific works made by Francesca Gagliardi on several exhibition occasions from 2004 to 2005, each marked by technical choices and solutions influenced by the very atmosphere of the place. A true graphic occupation, an interaction with space.

Aspettare l'Inatteso

The atelier curated the first Room made for the Galleria Venti Correnti in Milan, on the occasion of the exchange project Aspettare l’Inatteso. The project, curated and organised by Atelier quattordici - Grafica Upiglio 22250 with the Swiss print studio of Franco la Franca, included a period of work/residency in the two print studios for the respective invited artists and two exhibitions, one in Milan and one in Locarno.

One plate, a repeated module. A single signed copy

Like wallpaper pasted up in modules in a transit area, a corridor, it recalls the idea of a living space. An inhabited place. On the decorated wall hangs a single copy, perfectly integrated into the composition. Framed, signed and numbered as an original. Only one other three-dimensional element is part of this suggested setting: a pair of terracotta shoes that represent the artist's presence, a further imprint, a self-portrait.

A cycle of installations

The search for identity and the encounter with the other, the difference between original work, unique work and multiple, are the themes on which the artist reflects and which she will carry, in different forms, into all the other installations of the Rooms cycle.
