On show are a selection of photographic works, three installations, an interactive play area and Eventails, a performance co-signed with the choreographer Ambra Senatore and produced by the CCN de Nantes. The opening launched the Festival Trajectoires 2018.

JEST, the project and the book

JEST grew out of the exploration of Ilaria Turba's family photographic archive: five generations of photographs, taken from 1870 to the present day, are the starting point of a visual research that in this exhibition is presented as installation and performance acts, also conceived for audience participation. Photography is reality and fiction, play and action; it interweaves with various disciplines – dance, sound, storytelling – and offers itself to the viewer as a new experience of seeing and perception.

In JEST the author works by photographing and using historical family photographs, in an at times dizzying game of repetitions, visual transformations and ever-different stagings, so as to build a constellation that interweaves private and universal elements and where reality and fiction blend. Hence the name JEST, which in English means a joke, a prank.
