The selection
The XI International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium took place in Daugavpils, Latvia, March 10th to the 24th, 2023.
The event was organized by Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre in collaboration with SIVIA Gallery and Embassy of Italy in Riga, in Latvia.
Artefora responsible for selecting the Italian artists and involved A14 in proposing possible participants.
Selected Artists to represent Italy: Gianluca Arienti and Marco Poma.
The residence
The symposium took place in the studios and exhibition spaces of the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
Nine artists from five countries (Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Latvia) selected through a competition, took part in the event.
During two weeks of intensive work, the artists had the opportunity to draw inspiration from the landscape of Latgale and the urban environment of Daugavpils, participate in workshops, artist presentations and informal discussions.
Final Exhibition
The symposium concluded with the opening of a group exhibition on 24 March 2023, which presented the artworks created by the participants during their residency, as part of the programme for the 10th anniversary of the Rothko Centre.
