When we talk about artists’ books limited print editions we usually refer to the early twentieth century’s European tradition of illustrated books, whose essential elements are the use of typography, of the original printing matrix (etching plates, woodblocks, lithographic stones and plates), of high quality paper and materials. Traditional techniques guide us in the production of artists’ books, whilst new technologies are employed and combined to bring innovation and inventiveness. It is the artist’s choice following his aims to respect, go against, or even reinvent the rules.
